Introduction

Have you ever reached a point where you were simply tired? Tired of crying. Tired of wondering why it happened. Tired of carrying the weight of a broken heart that never seems to get any lighter.

Maybe you’ve tried to stay busy. Maybe you’ve prayed, read books, talked to friends, or convinced yourself that time would eventually heal the pain. Yet somehow, you’re still carrying it.

If that’s where you are today, I want you to know there is hope. But before your healing can move forward, there’s one important decision you’ll need to make.

Before We Move Forward…

In step 2, you: ‘Realized You Cannot Heal Alone’ You recognized that no relationship, friend, distraction, or amount of willpower can fully restore a broken heart. Healing requires a force greater than yourself.

Many of us ask God to remove the pain while still holding tightly to our hurt, our fears, our expectations, or the person we lost. We want healing, but we struggle to surrender control.

Today’s step is an invitation to place your healing completely in God’s hands. This is where healing begins to shift from carrying the weight alone to allowing God to carry it with you.

As you move through this lesson, ask yourself: Am I truly trusting God with my healing, or am I still trying to control the outcome?

Step 3

God’s Invitation

There comes a point in every healing journey when you realize your own strength isn’t enough. You’ve cried over what happened, replayed every conversation, and looked for answers in all the wrong places, yet nothing seems to ease the pain. When you get to the point where you feel like, “I can’t do this anymore,” God’s invitation is simple:

Step 3:

‘Place Your Healing in God’s Hands’

Placing your healing in God’s hands is more than believing He exists.

It means surrendering your pain instead of holding onto it.
It is making a daily decision to trust Him with your broken heart, even when you don’t understand what He’s doing.
It means choosing obedience even when your emotions tell you to do the opposite.
It is trusting in Him even when everything seems broken.

Healing begins the moment you stop trying to control the outcome and start trusting the One who already knows the ending. Surrender doesn’t remove the pain overnight, but it changes who is carrying it.

EZEKIEL 36:26

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”

What Does it Mean to Place Your Healing in God’s Hands

Placing your healing in God’s hands means you no longer walk through it alone.

Every time fear rises, you bring it to Him.
Every time you want to contact your ex, seek revenge, or return to what broke you, you choose to place that decision back into God’s hands.

The pain will not disappear overnight, but God becomes your Comforter, your Counselor, your Protector, and your Guide.

Today, God is inviting you to stop relying on your own strength and start surrendering your healing into His hands. You don’t have to know how your story ends. You only have to trust the One who already does.

Surrender Your Broken Heart

My Healn’ Journey With Surrender

Ever since I was a young adult, I dreamed of finding my soulmate to share my life. I committed to one relationship after another, hoping to find the perfect one to create my ideal family. Each time, I gave my partners my all and put up with many things I should not have for fear of being alone. Here’s an example:

Journal Entry

I broke down today and called my ex to see what she was doing for the weekend. I know I shouldn’t have, but I am so lonely…

She told me she had been on two dates and already kissed someone! Wow! Two weeks after we split, she is already trying to replace me.

Love just falls in her lap. I must be cursed, or Karma is coming back to me. No matter what I do, it always comes back to me being alone. I give up on love. Everybody else is happy in their marriage and relationship. Why not me? Why can’t I find true love?

At the end of my fifth long-term relationship, I figured true love was not in my cards, and I gave up on the fairy tale of happily ever after. I made a decision to focus on my healing so that I could make myself happy and find purpose. This is what I did…

For Your Healn’

Looking back, I realize healing didn’t begin when my circumstances changed. It began the moment I stopped asking God to change someone else and started allowing Him to change me. Today is your opportunity to stop carrying your broken heart alone.

God is not asking you to have all the answers before you come to Him. He is simply asking you to trust Him to transform and restore your heart. That kind of healing happens from the inside out. As you place your healing in God’s hands, you’ll discover a peace that remains steady, even when your circumstances don’t change.

You don’t have to follow my exact path. But I encourage you to trust God with yours. Be willing to let Him lead you through the healing process, one day at a time. The journey won’t always be easy, but it will be worth it.

How to Place Your Healing in God’s Hands

Placing your healing in God’s hands isn’t a one-time event. It’s a daily decision to stop carrying what God has already offered to carry for you.

You don’t have to have perfect faith. You don’t have to know every Bible verse. You simply have to be willing to trust Him with the parts of your heart you can no longer heal on your own.

Many use the phrases like “Give it to God” or “Surrender your pain,” but no one explains how to do it or what that actually looks like.

Here are four practical ways to begin:

1. Tell God the truth

God already knows what you’re feeling, but He wants you to bring it to Him anyway. Healing begins when you stop pretending you’re okay.

  • Tell Him you’re angry.
  • Tell Him you’re confused.
  • Tell Him you miss them.
  • Tell Him you’re afraid of being alone.
  • Tell Him you don’t understand why this happened.

Keep in mind. God isn’t disappointed that you are struggling or waiting for you to stop crying to come to Him. He already knows every thought running through your mind. The invitation is “Come to ME exactly as you are.”

2. Give Him What You Keep Picking Back Up

  • Every time you replay the breakup…
  • Every time you obsess over what they’re doing…
  • Every time you feel tempted to carry the weight again…

Pause. Release it back to God. Pray:

Prayer

“God, I release this relationship to You. I cannot control another person’s heart, but I trust You with mine. Help me accept what I cannot change and give me peace with whatever Your will is.”

Then take one action that supports your prayer. Put your phone down. Stop checking their social media. Resist asking mutual friends about them. Every time you’re tempted to regain control, choose trust instead.

You may have to do this ten times a day That’s okay. Every act of surrender strengthens your trust.

3. Choose Obedience Over Emotion

EmotionObedience
1. Your feelings may tell you to text them.1. God may be asking you to be still.
2. Your feelings may tell you to stalk their social media.2. God may be inviting you to protect your peace.
3. Your emotions will often lead you back into pain.3. God’s direction will always lead you toward healing.

Obedience isn’t punishment. It’s protection.

4. Trust God’s Process

Healing rarely happens overnight. God often heals us one layer at a time. Some days you’ll feel strong. Some days you’ll cry again. That doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means God is faithfully doing deeper work inside your heart than you can see.

  • Keep showing up.
  • Keep praying.
  • Keep surrendering.

Rest assured that God is healing you, even when it doesn’t feel like it. Replacing your expectations with God’s promises is one of the greatest acts of surrender.

When you Find Yourself Carrying it Again

There will be days when you surrender your healing to God, only to find yourself trying to take control again. That’s normal. Healing is a process, and surrender is a daily decision.

When you notice yourself picking the burden back up:

1.Recognize it.

Ask yourself, “Am I trusting God right now, or am I trying to control the situation?“

2. Pause before you act.

Don’t send the text. Don’t check their social media. Don’t make a decision based on fear or loneliness.

3. Give it back to God.

“God, I realize I’m trying to carry this again. I’m giving it back to You. Help me trust You instead of my emotions.”

4. Choose one healthy action.

  • Read a Psalm.
  • Go for a walk.
  • Journal.
  • Call a trusted friend.
Redirect your thoughts toward something that strengthens your healing instead of feeding your pain. Remember, every time you choose to give the burden back to God, you’re strengthening your trust in Him.

Moving Forward…

Today, you made a decision that has the power to change the direction of your healing.

Placing your healing in God’s hands means you no longer have to carry it by yourself. Each day, you’ll have another opportunity to trust Him with the thoughts that overwhelm you, the memories that hurt, and the fears that try to convince you you’ll never be whole again.

There will be moments when you’re tempted to pick your pain back up. That’s part of the healing journey. When it happens, don’t be discouraged. Simply return it to God. Healing is about choosing, again and again, to trust the One who can restore your broken heart.

As you continue this journey, you’ll begin to notice something changing within you. The burden becomes lighter. Your faith grows stronger. Peace slowly replaces fear, and hope begins to take the place of despair. God is changing you.

Take a deep breath, thank yourself for showing up today, and prepare your heart for the next step of your journey. God is leading you one step at a time.
