The  Heart: It works with all the other organs to circulate and distribute blood.

The Meridian: The heart’s energy is the bridge to the mind. It is the home of the spirit and controls the emotions.

Location: Begins near the armpit, runs down the lower inner arm, and ends at the fingertip. 

Physical Imbalance:  Chest pain, heart palpitations, irregular heart rhythm, restlessness

Emotional Imbalance: Anxiety, depression, emotional worries, inability to connect with others

How To Balance

 *When the Heart Meridian is balanced, it brings harmony in the physical heart and the spirit. A sense of peace and emotional stability is felt. And joy radiates outward.  

Acupoint- apply pressure/massage: There are many acupoints in the body. This is one example.

Heart 7 Pressure Point

The Heart 7 pressure point can be found in the crease of your wrist. It lies in line with the space between your ring and pinkie finger. There’s a bone directly in line next to this pressure point. You can apply pressure or gently massage this point in small circular motions to enhance the effects. Below is a simple guide to get you started:

  • Use the descriptions above to locate the acupressure point you would like to work with. You can use your fingers to feel for slight indentations or sensitive areas.
  • Use your thumb, fingers, or a soft-tipped tool to apply steady, firm pressure to the point. You should feel a slight discomfort, but not pain.
  • Maintain the pressure for 1-3 minutes while taking deep, slow breaths. This helps to activate the point and allows the body to relax.

Herbal Therapy/Diet: Limit your intake of caffeine. Examples of heart-healthy drinks are water, sparkling water, unflavored milk, plant-based milk, tea, coffee, and vegetable juice. Herbs that help the heart are garlic, fennel, and hawthorne.

Meditation/Mind: Thoughts and emotions impact the organs by pulse and blood pressure, so surround yourself with love, nature, and things that bring you joy. Try this.

  • Sit in a comfortable position.
  • Relax and breathe deeply as you visualize your heart (where it is located and its size and shape).
  • Breathe in fresh, clean, red Qi through the nose.
  • Exhale toxins from the heart through your mouth, as you quietly chant the word “Kherr”.
  • Repeat three times.

Physical Exercise: Aerobic exercise improves circulation and, as a result, lowers blood pressure and heart rate. The ideal amount of time to participate in aerobic activity is 30 minutes a day for five days a week. Examples of exercise are walking, running, swimming, cycling, and jumping rope.
