Bladder Meridian – Stress, Depression, & Anxiety
The Bladder: The bladder stores and eliminates liquid waste.
The Meridian: The bladder energy helps balance the autonomous nervous system, a network of nerves all through the body that controls unconscious processes (processes that occur without your realizing, like breathing and your heart beating).

Location: The bladder meridian begins at the inner eye and runs up the skull where it works outwards before running down the back. The meridian then follows the hip and sacral nerves before running down the back of the leg and ends outside of the baby toe. It is the longest energy pathway and it passes through all of the other meridians.
Physical Imbalance: urination problems, yeast infections, stones in the urine and lower back problems.
Emotional Imbalance: Feeling timid, fear, irritable, and stubbornness.
How To Balance
*A strong and balanced flow of energy through the bladder meridian allows someone to be in-tune with Spirit, authoritative, and sure.
Acupressure Point/Massage: *The are many pressure points in body. This is one example.
The point is found on the inside of the ankle, 3 inches above the highest point of the inside ankle, off the bone and on the muscle.
Massage for 2–3 minutes and repeat on the other leg.
Place one to two fingers on the sanyinjiao point.
Move fingers in a circular motion using gentle, firm pressure.

Herbal Therapy/Diet: Herbs for the bladder meridian include: Milk Thistle, Tumeric and Dandelion. Foods that will help your Bladder Meridian are grapes, pears, strawberries, watermelon, celery, eggplants, chives, raspberries, water chestnuts, green beans, walnuts, carrots, lettuce, and onions.
Meditation/Mind:
Quick tips for meditation for the bladder:
- Find a quiet and comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed
- Sit in a comfortable position, with your back straight and relaxed
- Close your eyes or softly gaze at a fixed point
- Focus your attention on your breathing. Observe the inhalation and exhalation without trying to control or manipulate it
- When thoughts arise, acknowledge them without judgment, let them go and gently bring your focus back to your breath
- Start with shorter sessions, such as 5-10 minutes, and gradually increase the duration as you become more comfortable
Physical Exercise: Balance work, play and rest, move regularly, stretch, walk, listen to music, count backwards or take long deep breaths while picturing inhaling white light (positive energy and exhaling dark smoke (negative energy). Also, drink plenty of water to help with detoxification. Engage in exercises that twist, turn, bend or stretch the lower back. A therapy ball is a great tool to achieve this.
