My Broken Heart
At some point in our lives, we will experience a broken heart. It took five relationships to encounter my first. I had to let go of a girlfriend I deeply cared for. It was obvious that she wasn’t emotionally attached anymore and was sticking around to avoid hurting me. The signs were there, so I released my hold on her. As the senior partner, I didn’t think it was fair for me, a 42-year-old woman, to pressure a 29-year-old to change who she was to make me happy. When I finally suggested that we go our separate ways, she eagerly accepted and moved on.
She wanted to remain friends. I told her I needed about two weeks to get over our break-up, and then we could be buddies again, like when we first met. As the days passed, being without her consumed me. I missed her terribly, but knew suggesting that we try one more time would be senseless. So, I kept myself busy, took up a new hobby, and even tried to date again.
All my attempts to get over her failed. Several times, I relapsed and reached out to her to relieve my pain. She remained firm in her stance and reminded me that she needed to work on her issues. The famous words she told me were, ‘It’s not you, it’s me.’ Lol!
Attempting to Heal My Broken Heart
There was nothing I could do. I couldn’t win back the love of my life or ease the pain of my broken heart. Internally, I was losing my mind. So, I did everything in my power to alleviate the grief I felt because of her absence, including taking sleeping pills, smoking marijuana, drinking beer and wine, calling the crisis hotline two to three times a day, crying to my friends, seeing a therapist, and even trying acupuncture! Out of desperation, I sought out fast relief, but couldn’t find it. I was forced to deal with my broken heart!
Acupuncture? Yes, acupuncture! It was a neat experience. When I researched ways to heal a broken heart, I stumbled across the positive effects of acupuncture. Even though I fear needles, I was desperate. My healer put needles in the strangest places on my body, like my ears, toes, fingers, and in the middle of my head. She even burned something herbal on my chest to help reduce the aching sensation of my broken heart. After a few visits, I chose to stop because I didn’t think it was healing me fast enough. I wanted instant relief from the crippling pain in the middle of my chest.
Living month after month with an aching heart, I decided to chase something other than people, who constantly disappointed me. I gave up on love and accepted that I would finish my journey alone. So I took my mental health seriously and decided to find that love from within that I heard other happy people talk about. The acupuncture treatments always stayed in the back of my mind, and I often thought about how needles can be used to heal someone. Years later, I understand. And I must share it with you.
Spiritual Purpose of a Broken Heart
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in Spirit…Psalm 34 NIV.
The Christian faith believes that God allows the heart to be broken wide open so He can piece it back together wholly, ultimately, to teach us how to love unconditionally.
I was raised Methodist and believe in the Holy Trinity: God the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. Having a relationship with God, praying, and allowing him to lead my life was programmed in me at a very young age. As an adult, I have adopted a few more nurturing practices to enhance my mind, body, and spiritual connection because I always wondered…If the divine is in the heavens, and we are down here on Earth, how do we connect and communicate? To answer that question, we must learn about energy.
*Disclaimer: I am not a doctor or licensed/certified energy healer. The information I am presenting is a blended outline of cultural beliefs that I have researched, along with my broken heart experiences. I have included references for your viewing and interpretation.
Energy
Everything in the Universe is made of atoms. Atoms are made of energy. Therefore, the Universe is made up of energy. The same energy that makes up the Universe is the same energy that makes up you and me. We are the Universe in human form. And guess what else? The total amount of energy in the Universe is constant. It cannot be created or destroyed! It can only be changed from one form to another. Hmmm…
Energy is constantly active all around us. Because it is not visible, the energy force surrounding us goes unnoticed. We learned in our early school days that sunlight and the foods we eat provide us with energy. However, our emotions, thoughts, and words are also forms of energy. The most concealed and overlooked energy is the Life Force Energy within us.
The Human Body Energy System
The human body’s energy system is a sophisticated structure of energy centers, channels, and pathways in which energy flows throughout the body, tissues, and organs. It is made up of meridians, chakras, and the aura. They work together similarly to the circulatory system, except energy is being transported instead of blood. The meridians control the energy flow throughout the body, the chakras serve as energy storage centers, and the aura is the protective outer energy field of the body that receives and releases universal energies.
Many different cultures and belief systems have recognized and practiced energy healing. It is a system that dates back thousands of years. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is believed that we are more than just flesh and blood. They consider our physical frame to be an energy body or subtle body in which the Life Force Energy flows and connects us with the Universe. Life Force Energy?
Life Force Energy
The Life Force Energy is a mysterious energy present in all living things. It sustains our existence. The only difference between the living and the dead is the absence of the Life Force Energy. For instance, both living and dead things have their physical shell and organs, but the deceased are not able to consciously continue their course of life experiences. When the Life Force Energy is transformed out of the physical body, we refer to it as death.
We are all born with Life Force Energy. It is deeply rooted inside of us and lies dormant until awakened. It is believed that the Life Force Energy is personal to each of us and vibrates at our unique frequency. Not only does it give us life, but it is also the body’s natural source of healing. All organs, tissues, and cells depend on a constant, steady supply of the Life Force Energy to carry out the processes of sustaining life. If the energy flow is imbalanced, it could lead to illness and disease.
It takes more than a prescription of medication to make us well. By becoming familiar with the energy within and around us, we can acknowledge its universal presence and utilize it to boost our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. To reap the benefits, we must learn how it works.
Remember For Your Heal’n
A broken heart is a gateway to personal transformation. If you are experiencing depression or extreme sadness because of a lovesick heart, know that depression is not a disease; it is a symptom of deeper trauma that needs healing. Take time to explore yourself and acknowledge the reasons for relying on someone else to make you happy.
Trust me, you don’t need them to complete you! Becoming whole is an inside job. And when two complete people unite, 1 + 1 = 1.
